Kildare County Council Celebrates Success at Irish Planning Institute Awards 2025
Presented with two national awards and a commendation
3rd October 2025: Kildare County Council is delighted to announce its outstanding achievement at the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) Planning Awards 2025, where it received two national awards and a Highly Commended recognition. These honours reflect Kildare County Council’s commitment in delivering innovative, inclusive, and sustainable planning for the communities of County Kildare.
Award Highlights:
- Planning Authority of the Year: Recognised for strategic vision, commitment to excellence, and delivery of high-quality planning services that support sustainable development, climate action, and community wellbeing.
- Heritage & Culture Award: Awarded for The Revival of Naas Town Centre – Reimagining the Potato Market. The project was praised for its sensitive restoration of heritage features, integration of public art, and successful reactivation of the Naas town centre civic space.
- Highly Commended – Plan Making Category: The Maynooth Joint Local Area Plan 2023–2029, developed in collaboration with Meath County Council, was recognized for its forward-looking approach to the sustainable growth of Maynooth as a university town, regional economic centre, and vibrant community. The plan was commended for its strong evidence base, cross-boundary coordination, and emphasis on compact growth, active travel, and climate resilience.

The IPI Planning Awards, held biennially, celebrate excellence in planning and placemaking across Ireland. This year’s awards attracted a record number of entries from both public and private sector organisations, with projects assessed by an expert panel for their innovation, impact, and contribution to sustainable development.
Kildare County Council congratulates all winners and commended projects and looks forward to continuing its work in delivering high-quality, people-centred planning outcomes for County Kildare.
