Kildare County Council Hosts Launch of “Christians in Morocco: Living Together” Exhibition

29th January 2026: Kildare County Council welcomed His Excellency Lahcen Mahraoui, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Ireland, to Kildare Town Community Library for the launch of the “Christians in Morocco: Living Together” Exhibition.
The exhibition aims to put a spotlight on Morocco’s singularity as a representation of harmonious living, highlighting Morocco’s unique model of peaceful coexistence, where Muslims, Jews and Christians have lived harmoniously together for centuries.
The exhibition opened on Tuesday, 27th January and will be on display until Saturday, 28th February at Kildare Town Community Library.
As part of the launch event, students from St Brigid’s Primary School performed a musical piece and presented a traditional Brigid’s Cross to the Ambassador, symbolising friendship, cultural exchange, and St. Brigid’s historic association with Kildare.
Speaking at the event, Leas Cathaoirleach of Newbridge and Kildare Municipal District, Cllr Brian O’Loughlin said; "I am delighted to have welcomed Ambassador Lahcen Mahraoui to Kildare for this important exhibition. ‘Christians in Morocco: Living Together’ is a powerful reminder of the value of respect and understanding between communities, and we are proud to host it here in Kildare."
Kildare County Council is pleased to bring this meaningful cultural exhibition to local audiences and encourages everyone to visit and experience this celebration of intercultural connection.
