Kildare County Council Invites Views on the Draft Newbridge Settlement Plan
Online Public Consultation now open with a public information event scheduled on Tuesday, 23 September.
Kildare County Council has published Proposed Variation No. 2 of the Kildare County Development Plan 2023 – 2029 (as varied). This variation relates to the Draft Newbridge Settlement Plan. This important Plan, once adopted, will set out the vision and overarching land use strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of Newbridge.
This Plan aims to reinforce the town’s strong sense of place by building upon its profile as a thriving centre for economic and retail activity. It also addresses issues such as congestion, community safety and deficiencies in social infrastructure. The goal is to allow for more walkable and cyclable neighbourhoods that are vibrant, affordable and inclusive to all age groups. Additionally, the Plan seeks to better harness the area’s unique natural, cultural and built heritage assets, all in an effort to create an environment where residents and visitors can flourish and foster resilience in the face of the urgent climate challenge.
The online public consultation is now open and the deadline for submissions is Thursday, 16th October at 4 pm. The Proposed Variation and all supporting documents are available to download online at: https://consult.kildarecoco.ie/en/browse
As part of the public consultation an information event will take place on Tuesday 23rd September at Cedral St. Conleth’s Park, Main Street, Newbridge W12 X067 from 4 pm – 7 pm.
The Proposed Variation is also available to view at the Newbridge Community Library or the Planning Office at Kildare County Council (Áras Chill Dara, Naas).
