Kildare County Council Signs Works Contract for Newtown House Lane Housing Project
Kildare County Council has signed a contract appointing Showglade Construction Ltd. as the main Contractor and Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS), for the upcoming Newtown House Lane housing project, located at Captain’s Hill, Leixlip, Co Kildare.
The project will deliver four new age-friendly social housing units. Funding is being provided under the Social Housing Investment Programme, through the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, with completion expected in 2027.
The Part VIII design for the development was completed by Kildare County Council Architects Department, which will lead the construction stage design team. The project team includes Donnachadh O’Brien & Associates (Civil & Structural+ PSDP) and Hayes Higgins Partnership (Mechanical, Electrical & BER assessors).
Speaking at the contract signing, the Cathaoirleach of the County of Kildare, Councillor Carmel Kelly said: “Today’s contract signing is an important milestone for Newtown House Lane and for the delivery of age-friendly social housing in Leixlip. These new homes will provide high-quality, accessible accommodation that supports people to live independently in their own community, close to local services and supports.”
