Kildare County Council shines bright at the Green Transformation Awards 2025
Kildare County Council is thrilled to have been awarded two accolades at the Green Transformation Awards 2025 under two categories, Public Sector Organisation of the Year and Life Sciences. The Green Transformation Awards recognise Irish organisations driving change in renewable energy, waste reduction, and green innovation.
The Public Sector Organisation of the Year accolade was awarded to Kildare County Council for the Kerdiffstown Landfill Remediation Project, a transformative environmental project that converted a former landfill site into a vibrant 30-hectare public park in Naas, Co. Kildare. The project incorporated sustainability into the project life cycle from design through to operation and achieved significant results in terms of reduced emissions and increased sustainability.
The award under the Life Sciences category was awarded to Kildare County Council, Libraries Department, for innovative piloting of a Seed Library in 2023 which was extended to all seven main libraries in Kildare in 2024. The seed library consists of organic heirloom vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. Customers were then supported to grow their own food through seasonal workshops and talks.
