Serena Devereux announced as VECTOR Digital Artist in Residence
Kildare County Council Arts Service, in partnership with Kildare County Council’s Economic Development Department is delighted to announce Serena Devereux as the recipient of the 2026 VECTOR Digital Arts Residency in Kildare County Council’s Merits Hub.
Serena Devereux is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Kildare. A first class honours graduate of NCAD’s Fine Art Media programme, her work explores how we experience the world as we move between physical and digital spaces. Working with video, CGI, AI, virtual reality, browser based artworks, creative coding and immersive installations, she examines how technology shapes our sense of reality, identity and place. Serena is further developing this research through the lens of cybernetics, examining feedback between people and technology, and through posthumanist ideas that question how our sense of self evolves in digital environments.
As the VECTOR Digital Artist in Residence, Serena Devereux will have access to workspace at MERITS Innovation Thinkspace, enabling her to develop new work within a dynamic hub of technology focused enterprises. She will receive a €5,000 bursary to support her residency and will receive bespoke mentoring from Kildare Arts Service and Jo Mangan, Artistic Director of The Performance Corporation. This Kildare based creative company is known for innovative theatre, opera, immersive experiences and artist residencies including the long-running SPACE programme which Devereux will take part in during 2026. These supports provide a year of artistic discovery, interdisciplinary exchange and the development of long-term networks within the digital arts sector.
Speaking about the announcement, Éilis Lavelle, Arts Officer, Kildare County Council , said: “We are thrilled to award the VECTOR Digital Arts Residency to Serena Devereux. Her practice, which merges new digital methodologies with deep conceptual inquiry, exemplifies the innovative and exploratory spirit this residency aims to support. MERITS provides an ideal environment for an artist working across technology, enabling new creative connections with the digital and innovation community. Alongside the SPACE programme and mentoring from Jo Mangan, we believe this residency will open exciting pathways for her artistic development.”
