Extension Of Temporary Road Closure
Notice Is Hereby Given of the Decision of Kildare County Council to Extend the duration of the closure as detailed below of the following road in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994:

Road Closure extended to Friday, 15 May 2026.
Request for the extension period to be increased to Friday, 15 May 2026, the road will open temporarily between Monday, 30 March and Sunday, 12 April before closing again. This will facilitate the set up for Closure 4 on the R-149 between the L1015 and the L1052 over the two weeks of the school Easter holiday.
Alternative Routes:
L1015 Westbound road users – Closure starts at the L1015 / R149 junction. Road users will be diverted left onto the R149 (Captains Hill) for 1.3 km until they come to Leixlip Main Street, turn right onto Main Street and follow the diversion route for 3.2 km until you reach the L1014. Turn right onto the L1014 and continue for 1 km which will bring you to the end of the closure.
L1015 Eastbound road users - Closure starts at the L1015 / L1014 junction at Kellystown. Road users will be diverted right onto the L1014 for 1 km until they reach the R148. Turn left onto the R148 and follow the diversion route for 3.2 km until you reach the R149 (Captains Hill). Turn left onto Captains Hill and continue for 1.3 km which will bring you to the end of the closure.
Heavy Good Vehicle’s approaching from the west will be diverted to stay on R157 at the L1014 junction for a further 5 km. The diversion will come to the Castlefarm roundabout where you will turn left (first exit) to stay on the R157, a further 1.2 km the diversion will come to the Summerhill roundabout and diverted traffic are to take the second exit to stay on the R157. Another 1.4 km at the Bennetstown roundabout the diverted traffic to proceed at the first exit to continue on the R157, another 1 km will bring you to the M3 turn off, from here you will follow the road and take the second exit to bring you to the R157/R147 roundabout where diverted traffic will take a right (second exit) onto the R147. The diversion will continue for another 2.5 km past Bracetown where the next roundabout where signage will divert Heavy Good Vehicle’s to take the first exit heading towards Clonee, a further 300m at the M3 / R147 / R156 roundabout diverted traffic will take the 3rd exit bringing them onto the R156. Stay on the R156 for 200m and turn right onto the R149 Clonee Road. Follow the diversion for 4 km to reach the end of the road closure.
Heavy Good Vehicle’s approaching from the east are to follow the R149, the diversion will continue a further 4 km, they will first reach the R156 roundabout and be diverted to take the left turn R156 road (first exit), from here the diversion will continue 200m to the M3 / R147 / R157 roundabout, the diverted traffic are to take the first exit onto the R147. A further 300m the diverted traffic and to take the (second exit) and stay on the R147. From here the diversion continues 2.5 km past Bracetown, at the R147 / R157 roundabout the traffic will turn left onto the R157. At the M3 turn off the diverted traffic will take the (second exit) to stay on the R157, from here at the Bennetstown roundabout the diverted traffic to proceed at the (second exit) to continue on the R157 for a further 2.5 km the diverted traffic will take the second exit at the Summerhill roundabout. Another 1.4 km to the Castlefarm roundabout where the diverted traffic will turn right (second exit) to stay on the R157. A further 5 km will bring you to the end of the closure.
