Statement from Kildare County Council Tuesday 17th February 2026
Yellow Rain Warning & River Flood Advisory
Members of the Kildare County Council Severe Weather Assessment Team attended a Met Eireann briefing this afternoon. A Status Yellow Rain warning has been issued for County Kildare valid from 23:00 Tuesday 17th February until 23:00 Wednesday 18th February.
In addition, a River Flood Advisory is in place, valid from 06:00 Wednesday 18th February through to 11:00 Friday 20th February, due to saturated ground and heavy, persistent rainfall.
Additional forecasted rainfall may trigger further flooding, given current ground, and river conditions. Kildare County Council will continue to monitor the situation and prepare for any localised flooding risk.
Members of the public are urged to monitor Met Eireann forecasts over the next 24 hours as conditions may change.
